Privacy Policy for Habitic: Offline Habit Tracking
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Codethenic (“Company,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the Habitic: Offline Habit Tracking mobile application (the “App” or “Service”), and explains your privacy rights and choices.
By downloading, installing, or using Habitic, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
1. Summary (Quick Overview)
Habitic is built as an offline-first habit tracker. Your habit data (habits, streaks, notes, reminders, and settings) is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. However, we do use a small number of third-party services to keep the App stable, understand how it’s used in aggregate, and process subscription/purchase payments. In short:
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports and diagnostic data to help us fix bugs.
- Mixpanel — collects anonymized/pseudonymous usage analytics to help us understand feature usage and improve the App.
- RevenueCat — manages and validates your in-app subscriptions and purchases.
- Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit) — processes payment for Weekly, Yearly, and Lifetime Pro plans through your Apple ID; we never see your payment card details.
- Local Storage — your habit-tracking content itself stays on your device unless you explicitly export or back it up.
We do not sell your Personal Data. Details on each of these, your rights, and how to contact us are below.
This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which govern your use of the App, including subscriptions and purchases.
2. Interpretation and Definitions
Interpretation
Words with capitalized initial letters have the meanings defined below, regardless of whether they appear in singular or plural.
Definitions
- Account — a unique account created for you to access parts of the Service, where applicable (e.g., for subscription management via Apple ID).
- Application / App — refers to Habitic: Offline Habit Tracking.
- Company — refers to Codethenic, the developer of Habitic.
- Country — refers to: Sikkim, India.
- Device — any device that can access the Service, such as a smartphone or tablet.
- Personal Data — any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
- Service Provider — any third party that processes data on behalf of the Company (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics, Mixpanel, RevenueCat, Apple).
- Usage Data — data collected automatically through use of the Service (e.g., app opens, feature interactions, diagnostic data).
- Identifier — a device-level or vendor-level identifier (e.g., Apple’s IDFV, an anonymous analytics ID, or an advertising identifier) used to distinguish one device/installation from another. Habitic does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) for tracking or ads.
- You — the individual using the App.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
Habitic is designed to work without requiring an account or personal sign-up. You are not required to give us your name, email, or phone number to use the core habit-tracking features. If you choose to contact us for support (e.g., by email), we will receive whatever information you include in that message (such as your email address and message content).
3.2 Habit and App Content (Stored Locally)
The habits, streaks, notes, custom reminders, and preferences you create in the App are stored locally on your device using on-device local storage / database mechanisms. We do not have server-side access to this content unless you voluntarily export it and choose to share it with us (for example, attaching an export file to a support email).
3.3 Diagnostic and Crash Data (Firebase Crashlytics)
We use Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google, to automatically collect crash logs and diagnostic information when the App crashes or encounters an error. This may include:
- Device model, operating system version, and free disk/memory space
- App version and build number
- Stack traces, crash timestamps, and error logs
- A Crashlytics-generated installation identifier (not tied to your name or contact details)
This data helps us identify, reproduce, and fix bugs. Crashlytics data is processed by Google in accordance with the Firebase Privacy and Security policy.
3.4 Usage Analytics (Mixpanel)
We use Mixpanel to collect pseudonymous usage analytics that help us understand how people interact with the App — for example, which features are used most, how long onboarding takes, or where users tend to drop off. This may include:
- App open/close events and session length
- Feature interactions (e.g., “habit created,” “reminder set,” “streak completed”)
- General device information (OS version, device type, locale, timezone)
- An anonymous, randomly generated analytics identifier tied to your install (not your real name or contact info)
We configure Mixpanel to avoid collecting the actual content of your habits (i.e., habit names, notes, or personal text you type are not sent as event data) — only that an action occurred. Mixpanel processes this data on our behalf as a Service Provider. See Mixpanel’s Privacy Policy for details on their practices.
3.5 Subscription and Purchase Data (RevenueCat & Apple)
When you purchase or restore a Weekly, Yearly, or Lifetime Pro subscription/purchase, the transaction is handled by Apple’s In-App Purchase (StoreKit) system and validated/managed through RevenueCat. This may involve:
- An anonymized RevenueCat App User ID (generated per install/device, not your name)
- Purchase/subscription status, product identifier (e.g., “weekly_pro,” “yearly_pro,” “lifetime_pro”), purchase date, expiration/renewal date, and transaction identifiers
- Receipt data provided by Apple to validate your purchase
We do not receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment credentials. All payment processing is handled directly by Apple under its own Privacy Policy and App Store terms. RevenueCat acts as our subscription-management Service Provider — see their Privacy Policy.
3.6 Automatically Collected Usage Data
Like most apps, certain technical data is generated automatically as part of normal operation — such as approximate crash timestamps, app version, and OS version — as described in Sections 3.3 and 3.4 above.
4. Cookies, Identifiers & Local Storage
Habitic is a native mobile app, not a website, so traditional browser cookies do not apply. However:
- Local Storage: The App uses on-device local storage/database technology to save your habits, streaks, settings, and preferences directly on your Device. This data remains on your Device and is not automatically synced to any server operated by us.
- Analytics/Diagnostic Identifiers: Crashlytics and Mixpanel each generate their own anonymous, app-specific identifiers to distinguish one installation from another (for example, a randomly generated installation ID). These identifiers are not the same as Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and are not used for cross-app advertising or ad targeting.
- No Advertising Trackers: Habitic does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs and does not use IDFA for tracking purposes. If this ever changes, we will update this Policy and our App Store “App Privacy” disclosure and request App Tracking Transparency permission as required by Apple.
- Uninstalling the App: If you delete the App from your Device, the locally stored habit data on that Device is removed as well (unless previously backed up elsewhere, e.g., via iCloud device backup, which is governed by Apple’s own policies).
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the (limited) information described above to:
- Maintain and improve the Service — diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and understand feature usage trends.
- Provide Pro features — validate and manage your Weekly, Yearly, or Lifetime purchase and Restore Purchases requests through RevenueCat and Apple.
- Respond to support requests — if you email us, to communicate with you and resolve your issue.
- Ensure security and prevent abuse — detect and prevent fraudulent transactions or misuse of the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations — such as tax, accounting, or App Store policy requirements.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your Personal Data to anyone.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your data are:
- Legitimate interests — to maintain App stability (crash diagnostics) and improve the Service (usage analytics), balanced against your rights and freedoms.
- Performance of a contract — to process your purchase, manage your subscription, and provide the Pro features you’ve paid for.
- Consent — where required by applicable law (e.g., for certain analytics or diagnostic collection), we will request your consent, which you may withdraw at any time via your device or App settings.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law.
Your GDPR Rights
If GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:
- Access the Personal Data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 17. Because most of your habit content lives locally on your Device, you can also exercise many of these rights directly by deleting habits within the App or uninstalling the App.
7. Your CCPA/CPRA Rights (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:
- Know what Personal Information we collect, use, and disclose
- Delete Personal Information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate Personal Information
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Information — we do not sell or share your Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Limit use of Sensitive Personal Information — we do not knowingly collect Sensitive Personal Information as defined under CPRA
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 17. We may need to verify your request before fulfilling it.
8. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:
| Data Category | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Habit content (local storage) | Stored on your Device until you delete it or uninstall the App |
| Crashlytics diagnostic/crash logs | Up to 90 days on Google’s Crashlytics servers (per Firebase’s standard retention), then aggregated/deleted |
| Mixpanel usage analytics events | Up to 24 months, after which data is deleted or anonymized |
| RevenueCat/Apple purchase & subscription records | Retained for the duration of your subscription/entitlement plus up to 5 years thereafter, to comply with tax, accounting, and consumer-protection obligations, and to support Restore Purchases requests |
| Support email correspondence | Up to 24 months from the date of your last message |
We may retain certain data longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. You may request more detail on retention by contacting us.
9. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share limited data with:
- Service Providers: Firebase Crashlytics (Google), Mixpanel, RevenueCat, and Apple, each acting on our behalf as described above, and each bound by their own privacy commitments.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data (limited as it is) may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you via the App or this Policy before any such transfer takes effect under a different privacy policy.
- With your consent: For any other purpose, only with your explicit consent.
10. International Data Transfers
The Company is based in Sikkim, India. Some of our Service Providers (Google/Firebase, Mixpanel, RevenueCat, Apple) process data on servers located outside of your country, including in the United States and other jurisdictions. Where required by applicable law (such as GDPR), we and our Service Providers rely on appropriate safeguards for such international transfers — including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by these providers. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own.
11. Children’s Privacy
Habitic is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly.
12. Apple App Privacy (“Nutrition Label”) Consistency
This Policy is intended to be consistent with the “App Privacy” disclosures we provide to Apple for the App Store listing. In summary, our current App Store nutrition label reflects:
- Diagnostics (crash data, performance data) — linked to your device via an installation identifier, used for App Functionality; not linked to your identity; not used for tracking.
- Usage Data (product interaction) — used for Analytics and App Functionality; not used for tracking or third-party advertising.
- Purchase History — used for App Functionality (subscription/entitlement management) via RevenueCat and Apple; not used for tracking.
- Identifiers — a vendor-level/installation identifier may be used for Analytics and App Functionality; no Advertising Identifier (IDFA) is collected or used.
If our data practices change in a way that affects this label, we will update both the App Store disclosure and this Privacy Policy.
13. Security of Your Data
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we process, including relying on the security infrastructure of Apple, Google (Firebase), Mixpanel, and RevenueCat. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Your Choices
- Delete local data: You can delete individual habits or all App data at any time within the App, or by uninstalling the App.
- Restore Purchases: You can restore a previous purchase at any time via the App’s “Restore Purchases” option, which re-validates your entitlement through Apple and RevenueCat.
- Manage subscriptions: You can view, change, or cancel your Weekly or Yearly subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on iOS). Lifetime purchases are one-time and non-recurring.
- Opt out of analytics: Where your device or platform provides system-level controls over analytics/diagnostic sharing (e.g., iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements), you may use those controls. You may also contact us to request limits on analytics processing.
- Contact us: For any data access, correction, deletion, or portability request.
15. Links to Other Services
Our App may link out to external resources (e.g., Apple’s subscription management page, our support email). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party sites or services you visit via such links.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy and, where changes are material, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice) before the change takes effect. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
